  • liver damage
  • weakened immunity and increased risk of infections

Alemtuzumab

Matthew’s story: MS and medications

“I was diagnosed with secondary progressive MS in 2020. I am in some pain 24 hours a day despite taking baclofen, gabapentin, tizanadine, codeine, and tramadol. The pain mainly comes from spasticity and neuropathy.

The medications I take for MS can sometimes make me feel a bit spaced out. Sadly, I feel I am not always always 100% present for my loved ones. Some medications make me feel very tired, often very suddenly and without warning, and also give me chronic constipation.

I take 27 prescription tablets a day to manage spasticity and pain, not to mention a whole host of vitamins, supplements, nutraceuticals, and nootropics, so I often feel nauseous. Because of the volume of medication, I am often dehydrated, which is bad for nerve function and exposes me to a greater risk of urinary tract infections.
